Chi-square calculation : 2 Alleles

Chi-square is a statistical test that checks if a population is under the effects of the Hardy-Weinberg Equilibrium. Select on the main menu Allele and Genotype Frequencies and then Chi-square calculation: 2 Alleles.

To calculate the chi-square value, the aboslute number of individuals of each genotype has to be entered in the appropriate boxes on the window displayed. Click OK and all the values are calculated. This calculation generates a chi-square values that needs to be compared to critical value of 95% significance with one degree of freedom.

The program uses the formula to calculate the chi-square value. If your calculated chi-square value is smaller than the critical value (check chi-square table), the population (or locus) is under Hardy-Weinberg.
