Genetic Drift : Markov process

Select on the main menu Drift and then select Markov Process.

A window like the figure below will be displayed. Enter the population size (up to 70) and click OK to start.

After that the program will ask the initial population state. On the drop-down list there are all possible states at generation 0. Select the desired initial state and click OK. In the same window, WinPop show the transitional probabilities matrix (which is fixed for all generations and depends on population size) and initializes the probabilities vector, that will be calculated for each generation.

WinPop will then populate the probabilities vector and generate the histogram to generation 0.

Enter a number of generations to run and click Start. To see the changes in each generation leave 1 in the box and click Start repeatedly. If you want to restart or cancel just click the Cancel/Restart button and repeat the whole process. Markov process is one of teh few models that does not allow saving the results in an ASCII file.
